The Sun Center of Excellence in Software Technology for Eco-Social Sustainable Development – Ecosoc is part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute at the University of Southern Denmark. The general domain of expertise and innovation of Ecosoc is the development of software-based solutions for facilitating eco-social sustainable development within a board range of application domains. Research and development projects are application driven and conducted in close collaboration with industry and end users.

Ecosoc was founded in 2006 and builds upon the experience and expertise of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute in Software Engineering, Adaptronics, Robotics and Mechatronics. At Ecosoc we are currently involved in a wide range of projects, in which we conduct research in technologies for supporting eco-social sustainable development. Within these projects software technology is used to improve living standards and help to preserve the eco-habitat by reducing the environmental impact of human related activities through optimizing the utilization of natural resources.

Ecosoc is operated as a collaboration project between Sun Microsystems Laboratories and the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute as a Sun Center of Excellence.
